Shutdown Window Xp Faster

How to shutdown window xp faster
When you shut down Windows XP, the OS tries its best to make sure that all services (they help run things like graphics, printers etc) are shut down. But there are times when they don't close, thus Windows XP tries to give it the chance to shut down itself. This amount of time that windows waits for the service to close is stored in the system registry. If you modify this setting, then windows will shut down the service earlier. To modify the setting, follow the directions below:

1) Start – Run – Regedit
Navigate to the following Registry key:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop

* Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry and replace the 0 with a 1 in the Value data text box
For the next two, if the dword value indicated does not exist, create it:

* Double click on the WaitToKillAppTimeout entry in the right pane and change the Value data to 2000

* Double click on the HungAppTimeout entry in the right pane and change the Value data to 1000
Reboot

* If still having a problem, make the next change:

2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control

* Right-click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and change it to 2000
NOTE :- The lowest value Windows will recognize is 1000 (1 second)More Tricks and Hacks ..



Now reboot or restart your computer, You will be able to shutdown your window xp faster.

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth Here's how to Get it back

A nice little tweak for XP. Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the this sign "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:



Go to Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth



Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.

This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

I have tested on XP Pro, and 2000 other o/s not tested.

For example when playing games this nasty Windows Logo key keeps annoying, as we often accidently press it and this takes our game out to the desktop. So it becomes necessary to disable it when not needed an re-enable it when needed.

Here is a trick to get a call to your cell phone from your own number. Do you think I am crazy? No, I am not…….
Just try the following steps and you’ll get a call to your cell phone from your own number.


1. Just give a missed call to this number. You’ll not be charged!

2. Wait for a few seconds and you’ll get a call to your cell phone from your own number

3. Receive the call. You’ll hear a lady voice asking for a PIN number. Just enter some rubbish number.

4. She say’s- Your PIN cannot be processed and the call disconnects..

Delete undeletable files

Delete An "undeletable" File



Open a Command Prompt window and leave it open.
Close all open programs.
Click Start, Run and enter TASKMGR.EXE
Go to the Processes tab and End Process on Explorer.exe.
Leave Task Manager open.
Go back to the Command Prompt window and change to the directory the AVI (or other undeletable file) is located in.
At the command prompt type DEL where is the file you wish to delete.
Go back to Task Manager, click File, New Task and enter EXPLORER.EXE to restart the GUI shell.
Close Task Manager.
Or you can try this

Open Notepad.exe
Click File>Save As..>
locate the folder where ur undeletable file is
Choose 'All files' from the file type box
click once on the file u wanna delete so its name appears in the 'filename' box
put a " at the start and end of the filename
(the filename should have the extension of the undeletable file so it will overwrite it)
click save,
It should ask u to overwrite the existing file, choose yes and u can delete it as normal
Here's a manual way of doing it

1. Start

2. Run

3. Type: command

4. To move into a directory type: cd c:\*** (The stars stand for your folder)

5. If you cannot access the folder because it has spaces for example Program Files or Kazaa Lite folder you have to do the following. instead of typing in the full folder name only take the first 6 letters then put a ~ and then 1 without spaces. Example: cd c:\progra~1\kazaal~1

6. Once your in the folder the non-deletable file it in type in dir - a list will come up with everything inside.

7. Now to delete the file type in del ***.bmp, txt, jpg, avi, etc... And if the file name has spaces you would use the special 1st 6 letters followed by a ~ and a 1 rule. Example: if your file name was bad file.bmp you would type once in the specific folder thorugh command, del badfil~1.bmp and your file should be gone. Make sure to type in the correct extension.
